Firebirds Complete Trades with Soo & Sudbury

Follow the Flint Firebirds:

Flint, Mich – Flint Firebirds General Manager Terry Christensen announced today that the club has completed a trade with both the Sudbury Wolves and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Flint has traded Goaltender Zack Bowman to the Sudbury Wolves. In return, the Firebirds acquire a fourth round pick in the 2017 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection giving the club a total of four fourth round picks in 2017.

“After we acquired the team, one of our goals was to add to our inventory of draft picks and because of Bowman’s outstanding play to start the season, we were in a good position to trade him to a team in the league where he will get a great opportunity to play,” said Christensen. “With three healthy goalies after the return of the 2013-14 OHL Goalie of the Year, Alex Nedeljkovic, the decision made sense.”

Additionally, Flint has traded forward Bryce Yetman to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for a conditional draft pick in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection.

“Yetman is a player that was looking for more ice time and responsibility and Sault Ste. Marie was a team that inquired about him,” added Christensen. “We feel Bryce will be given a chance to earn more playing time with their club.”

The Firebirds roster is now comprised of 12 forwards, 8 defenseman and 2 goaltenders for a total of 22 players.

Flint will return home to the Dort Federal Event Center for a Halloween matinée match-up on Saturday Oct. 31. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. against the Owen Sound Attack. Special Halloween festivities are scheduled including trick-or-treating throughout the arena, a costume contest and costume parade in the first intermission, a Scooby Doo Bounce House and other fun promotions during the game.
