Firebirds to Host Annual Player Orientation Camp ‘Blue & White Game’ Saturday April 21st at Iceland Arenas

Team Requesting Donations for Humboldt Broncos Crash Victims and Survivors

Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds Hockey Club announced today the details of their fourth-annual player orientation camp to be held Friday, Apr. 20 through Sunday, Apr. 22 at their practice facility, Flint Iceland Arenas on Elms Rd. in Clayton Township.

In an effort to support and fundraise for the survivors and families of the victims in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy last week, the Firebirds are inviting fans to the annual tailgate party and ‘Blue vs. White Game’ Saturday, Apr. 21 from 2-6 p.m. The team is suggesting a minimum admission donation of $5 dollars and this will be matched (and multiplied) by the Firebirds Foundation and participating team sponsors and supporters.

Immediately following the game, fans can meet and greet current Firebirds Luke Cavallin, Marcus Gretz, Kyle Harris and Ethan Keppen as well as 2018 first-round draft pick Evan Vierling, Vice President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Barclay Branch, the coaching staff and all of the Firebirds’ OHL draft and free agent prospects. There will be music, complimentary hot dogs, beverages and a kids fun zone sponsored by Funtastic Inflatables.  The event is open to the public and will happen rain or shine.

Over the course of the weekend, the Firebirds will welcome over 30 prospects to Flint for fitness testing, four on-ice sessions and tours of the Dort Federal Event Center and Flint and Genesee County. Firebirds’ draft prospects from the 2017 and 2018 OHL Priority Selections and 2017 and 2018 U-18 Priority Selections as well as free agent invites will be in attendance.
