Flint Firebirds, Dort Federal Event Center Introduce New Security Procedures

Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds Hockey Club in conjunction with the Dort Federal Event Center and DM Burr Security Services announced today the introduction of new security procedures for guests attending Firebirds’ games. In an effort to deliver a smooth and thorough patron screening experience, security bag-checks will be performed at all entrances of the Dort Federal Event Center.

Beginning this Saturday night, September 30th, fans are encouraged to arrive early to provide enough time to enter the building for the Firebirds’ puck drop scheduled at 7 p.m. All bags must be inspected, regardless of size. The Dort Federal Event Center prohibits items such as bags and briefcases larger than a small purse or hand bag. Hard-sided bags of any kind are also prohibited.

“This is a non-intrusive process. Our fans will be politely asked to offer their bag for inspection and it’s really just an extra measure to help protect all of our patrons, players, fans and staff,” said Firebirds Team President Costa Papista.

Items that will not be allowed in the Dort Federal Event Center are backpacks, oversized bags, duffel bags, luggage, coolers, computers or camera bags with exceptions made for guests that require a larger bag for medical or childcare needs.

“Our priority at the Dort Federal Event Center is to ensure our fans have not only the most enjoyable experience possible, but also the safest,” said Dort Federal Event Center General Manager Jeremy Torrey. “With the introduction of bag checks at most sports and entertainment venues, fans have already become quite familiar with the process but we are taking extra steps, including opening our gates earlier, to make sure that the process is as smooth as possible. We appreciate the support and cooperation of all our fans as we introduce these new security measures.”

The Firebirds will return to the Dort Federal Event Center for Opening Night in Flint tomorrow night, Sep. 30. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. against the Ottawa 67’s and all fans in attendance will receive free rally towels and magnet schedules, sponsored by Dort Federal Credit Union and Little Caesars. Opening Night tickets can be purchased in person at the Dort Federal Event Center Box Office, by calling (810) 744-0580 or online at here.
