Promotions: Firebirds Host Sudbury Saturday Night

Team Poster Giveaway, Post-Game Player Autograph Session, Gordie Howe Tribute and Overagers Send-Off highlight the action packed evening

Flint, Mich. – With only four home games remaining this season, the Firebirds return to the Dort Federal Event Center to host the Sudbury Wolves this Saturday, Mar. 3 at 7 p.m. (ET). Saturday marks the Firebirds’ annual team picture giveaway and player autograph session, Gordie Howe Tribute Night and Overagers night.

The first 2,000 fans in attendance Saturday will receive the Firebirds’ official team picture poster to get autographed by their favorite Firebirds in the arena lobby immediately following the game. Additionally, 500 t-shirts will be given away to fans throughout the game courtesy of Genesys Athletic Club.

Saturday is also Gordie Howe Tribute Night sponsored by Diplomat. Gordie’s son, Murray Howe, will be in attendance signing copies of the book “Nine Lessons I Learned from My Father.” Part Tuesdays with Morrie, part Mr. Hockey, Nine Lessons is about what Murray Learned from his Father’s intimate account of all that lies behind the towering legacy of the beloved Gordie Howe.

Dr. Murray Howe is Gordie Howe’s youngest son. He is head of Sports Medicine Imaging for Toledo Radiological Associates and Promedica Health System’s Sports Care program. An associate clinical professor at the University of Toledo Medical Center, he also serves on the University of Michigan Medical School Admissions Committee. He has four decades of experience as a keynote speaker across Canada and the US covering various topics including sports medicine, health and wellness, and hockey.

Additionally, the Firebirds’ three “Overagers,” Maurizio Colella, Garrett Forrest and Jalen Smereck will be honored prior to the game. In the OHL, an overager is a player that begins the season at 20 years of age. A team is only allowed to have three overage players on their roster after the trade deadline in January.
