Firebirds To Host London Knights for Opening Night

Team excited to launch 2018-19 season on Saturday night, September 29th

Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds, in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), announced today that the club’s home opening night will take place on Saturday, Sep. 29. The Firebirds will host the London Knights at 7 p.m. (ET) at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint.

Opening night and single game tickets for the Firebirds’ 2018-19 season will go on sale Wednesday, Sep. 5 at the fourth annual “Firebirds Fan Fest” Open House from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Dort Federal Event Center. Single game tickets are $12 for bronze, $16 for silver, $20 for gold and $26 for VIP seating. Discounted season tickets are on sale all summer and fans are encouraged to visit the Dort Federal Event Center Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. to select the best seating locations. For questions, fans may call the Dort Federal Event Center Box Office at (810) 744-0580 or email mary@dorteventcenter.com.

Fans do not want to miss Opening Night as the club currently holds a 3-0 record in ‘home openers’ through their first three seasons in the OHL. Flint earned a 3-2 shootout victory over the Saginaw Spirit in the inaugural season before posting a 4-0 win over the Spirit in September of 2016. The Firebirds then notched an exciting 5-4 overtime victory over the Ottawa 67’s in last season’s opener.

Flint will begin the 2018-19 regular season on the road Friday, Sep. 21 in Kitchener at 7:30 p.m. (ET). The Firebirds will also play one preseason home game this fall. Flint will host Saginaw on Friday, Sep. 14 with puck drop set for 7 p.m. at Iceland Arenas on Elms Rd. in Clayton Township. Parking and tickets are complimentary to Firebirds’ season ticket holders and sponsors. Fans may purchase single general admission tickets for $10 dollars.

The Firebirds’ training camp will take place Monday, Aug. 27 through Wednesday, Aug. 29. The camp will be held at the Firebirds’ practice facility, Iceland Arenas, and is open to the public with free admission for all on-ice sessions.
