Flint, Mich. – In his first game after being acquired in a trade by the Firebirds, Connor Roberts earned an assist on the Firebirds’ lone-goal as Flint fell to the Kingston Frontenacs 9-1 at the Dort Federal Event Center Sunday.

Nine players recored a multi-point night for the Frontenacs while Nathan Dunkley and Brett Neumann each scored twice. Tyler Burnie started the scoring for the Frontenacs at 7:11 of the first period on the power-play when he converted on a rebound shot from Jason Robertson. At 10:23 Nathan Dunkley made it 2-0 on a tic-tac-toe passing play with Linus Nyman and Robertson. With 4:43 remaining in the opening frame, Matt Hotchkiss scored his fourth of the season from the left-circle off the right post.

Cody Morgan scored Kingston’s fourth goal of the game on a skilled play at 4:27 of the second period. Jakob Barhaney dished the puck to Morgan in-front of the net who kicked the puck to his stick and scored top-shelf. Also on a skill play, Robertson grabbed a puck out of mid-air, dropped it and snapped it into the net at 5:53 of the second period. Kingston led 5-0 after two periods of play, Flint was ahead in shots 35-18.

Nyman earned his third point of the game when Morgan dropped the puck to him in the slot. Nyman skated to the left circle and fired the puck far-side past Luke Cavallin. Brett Neumann increased Kingston’s lead by seven after Brahaney ripped the puck toward the net, which bounced to the stick of Conor Ali who quickly slid it backdoor to Neumann for the tally. Ty Dellandrea scored Flint’s lone-goal 42 seconds later at 8:58 of the third period. In his first game with the Firebirds, Connor Roberts outworked the Frontenacs defenseman in the left-corner and dished it to Dellandrea who scored short-side, off the crossbar and in. Then, Nyman’s attempted pass back-door bounced off a Firebirds’ defender right to the stick of Dunkley who lit-the-lamp for this second time of the night. Garrett Forrest replaced Cavallin between-the-pipes. Cavallin made 18 saves on 26 Kingston shots. Neumann completed the scoring for Kingston at 12:51 of the third period. Forrest made three saves on four shots.
