Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds announced today the hiring of Matt Bogart, M.S, ATC, as the club’s Head Athletic Trainer.
Bogart comes to Flint from the Pacific-Northwest, previously serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at Ford Sports Performance in Seattle, Wash. He worked with graduated collegiate athletes that were preparing for the recent NFL Combine. Four athletes that Bogart was training were selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, most notably being Kaleb McGary who was picked in the first-round (31st overall) by the Atlanta Falcons. Bogart was also invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis to assist with athlete prep-work and recovery.
“We are thrilled to announce Matt as the newest member of the Firebirds staff,” said Flint Firebirds Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Barclay Branch. “Matt has experience working with and educating high profile athletes and brings with him a wealth of knowledge to share with our players. Matt will play a key role with our group moving forward.”
Bogart, a native of London, Ont., holds a Master of Science (MScs) in Exercise and Sport Science from Merrimack College (Mass.) as well as a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Athletic Training from Gardner-Webb University (N.C.), where he was a four-year NCAA Division I athlete as a member of the Men’s Soccer team. Additionally, Bogart is certified in Blood Flow Restriction by Owens Recovery Science and is certified in Soft Tissue Therapy by Astym.
“Being raised in London, it’s been a huge dream of mine to be involved in a prestigious league like the OHL,” said Bogart. “I’m excited to be part of one of the league’s newest franchises and help build Flint into one of the best programs in the OHL.”
