Team White Shuts Out Team Grey 4-0 in Game 2 Tuesday

Flint, Mich. – Jake Durham and Evan Vierling each recorded three point night’s, scoring once and adding two assists and Hakon Nilsen earned two helpers as Team White shutout Team Grey 4-0 Tuesday evening in the second of four Training Camp games.

Team White struck first on a tic-tac-toe play with 7:01 remaining in the opening frame. Hakon Nilsen dished the puck cross-ice to Evan Vierling in the left corner who found Jake Durham in the slot for the tally. Less than a minute later, Vierling found the back of the net with assists credited to Durham and Ethan Keppen.

Evan Boucher made it 3-0 in favor of Team White when he found twine blocker-side from the left circle. Nilsen was awarded the lone assist with 4:33 remaining in the first period.

Then, newly acquired goaltender Emanuel Vella kept Team Grey scoreless after making a diving save on a point-blank shot in the slot in the final seconds of the initial frame. Team White headed to the locker room leading 3-0 after one period.

The goalies switched at the halfway point of the contest. Vella was perfect between the pipes, posting a shutout and was replaced by Chase Clark. Aidan Pitre replaced Evan Morrison.

After a scoreless second period, Team White made it 4-0 when Marcus Gretz one-timed the puck into the net from the left circle, low gloveside. Durham and Vierling were credited with the assists.

One of Team Grey’s best chances to score came with 4:45 remaining in the game when Josh Houston tried to light the lamp on a one-hander attempt but Clark was there to make the save. Clark, Vella and Team White shutout Team Grey 4-0.
