Windsor, Ont. – The Flint Firebirds continue their fifth preseason in the Ontario Hockey League Wednesday night when the club faces-off against the Windsor Spitfires at the WFCU Centre (capacity 6,450) in Windsor. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. (ET).

Wednesday marks the second of four preseason games for Flint this exhibition season. The Firebirds posted a 7-5 road victory in Guelph on Saturday, Aug. 31. The Firebirds scored four-unanswered goals to rally for the victory. Flint outshot Guelph 39-31. Ty Dellandrea (Dallas Stars) recorded four assists, Brennan Othmann tallied a three-point night (2G, 1A), Riley McCourt scored twice and Evan Morrison made 26 saves on 31 shots to lead the Firebirds.

On a 25-man roster, Flint will be missing 11 players in tonight’s contest. The Firebirds sent a record nine players to NHL camps this past week: Dennis Busby (Arizona), Ty Dellandrea (Dallas), Jake Durham (Columbus), Ethan Keppen (Vancouver), Vladislav Kolyachonok (Florida), Riley McCourt (Boston), Cody Morgan (Detroit), Evgeniy Oksentyuk (Arizona) and Anthony Popovich (Detroit). However, Jake Durham and Riley McCourt are expected to play Wednesday.

Flint finished preseason action last year with a 2-3-0-0 record. All-time, Flint is 6-12-0-0 in preseason games. In the past four years, Windsor is 11-7-0-1 in preseason action and finished last year’s preseason with a 4-1-0-0 record.

In the regular season, all-time, Flint is 9-14-1-0 versus the ‘Spits and are 3-8-1-0 at the WFCU Centre. The last time Flint was in Windsor was on Mar. 14 Cody Morgan scored two goals, including the game-winner in a shootout against his former team in front of 4,923 fans at the WFCU Centre. Windsor has also played one preseason game, winning 6-4 in Niagara on Aug. 31. Egor Afanasyev scored twice, Tyler Angle had two assists and both Kari Piiroinen and Xavier Medina split time between the pipes.


Broadcast Coverage:
There will be no live radio or television coverage for Wednesday evening’s contest. However, throughout the regular season, all 68 games can be heard live on the radio throughout Flint & Mid-Michigan on US 103.1 FM, online at or by downloading the US 103 app here. Dominic Hennig will call the play-by-play action with pre-game coverage beginning 30 minutes prior to puck drop.

65 of the Firebirds’ 68 games throughout the 2019-20 season are also scheduled to be televised live across the province of Ontario on the OHL Action Pak. OHL fans with cable television in Ontario can add the OHL Action Pak to their television plan to catch the Firebirds in action, home or away all season long.

Next Home Game:
The Firebirds will play one home preseason game against their in-state rival, the Saginaw Spirit, on Saturday, Sep. 14. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. (ET) at the official practice facility of the Firebirds, Iceland Arenas. Tickets are general admission and can be purchased for $10 at the door. Flint’s regular season home opening night is on Saturday, Sep. 28 when the club hosts the Niagara IceDogs at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center.
