Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds announced today that the club has completed a trade with the North Bay Battalion.
In the trade, the Firebirds acquire German forward Max Kislinger (pronounced KISS-ling-er) from the Battalion for a conditional 15th-round pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. If Kislinger plays one game with the Firebirds, the 15th-round pick becomes a sixth-round pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.
Kislinger, a six-foot-three, 203-pound left-winger, was a first-round draft pick (48th overall) of North Bay in the 2015 CHL Import Draft. Through two seasons with the Battalion, Kislinger has earned 32 points (18G, 14A), including 59 penalty minutes, in 103 games played.
“Max has a multi-faceted approach to the game that will bring a high character-level to our club,” said Flint Firebirds General Manager Barclay Branch. “As an experienced skater in our league, he is the type of player that will provide a positive presence both on the ice offensively and in the dressing room as a leader.”
Prior to playing with North Bay, the Farchant, Germany native recorded 12 points (5G, 7A) in 27 games with the EC Salzburg U18 Hockey Club during the 2014-15 season. He was invited to represent his nation at the IIHF Division IA Ice Hockey U20 World Championship in December 2016.
The Firebirds’ training camp will take place Monday, Aug. 28 through Wednesday, Aug. 30. The camp will be held at the Firebirds’ practice facility, Iceland Arenas, on Elms Rd. in Clayton Township and is open to the public with free admission for all on-ice sessions.
